Greenspeed GTO Refined!

Greenspeed trikes have always impressed me and enough such that we added them to our product line nearly 10 years ago.  The first trikes from Greenspeed were GTO models (20″ wheels, removeable seat,  single S&S Coupler, and 81 selectable gears).  Base prices ran about $4200.00 with drum brakes.  More for what was then the available Hope hydraulic disc brake option.

A few years later Greenspeed came out with the very popular first series GT and X folding trikes and at a much lower price point near $2600.00.  The Series II GS folders have been out for some time and remain our best sellers, however they may not be the trike for some of us larger riders.  Just got in a new 2009 GTO Plus, formerly called the GTO HD.  It has a wider seat 15.75″ vs the standard 14.25″, wider track width and best of all, a rider weight limit of 330lbs.  In addition, the Plus model gets the Excellent Magura dual piston “Big Ones” disc brakes.

The GTO Plus and base GTO both have improved ground clearance of 5″, due in part to the design of the new steering system.  Those changes have done nothing, but improve the handling and this trike is just as sure footed as ever.

The image above shows the wider seat.  With a slightly wider track width by 1″, and from the new frame design the handlebars may be adjusted out considerably for those with wider hips.  At the same time, there’s no intereference with the front wheels.  I have to admit from the last custom GTO HD I sold, I loved the comfort of the wider seat and I’m 6′2″ and about 172lbs.  I don’t have wide hips, but the seat just feels right.

The above image shows the powerful and well modulated Magura disc brake. One on each side, these brakes are standard for the Plus, while mechanical drums are standard on the base GTO.

The GTO and GTO Plus still come standard with the SRAM Dual Dive 3/9 hub and 11/34 9spd cassette. With a triple chainwheel set you get 81 selectable gears. The gear inch range is 12.5 - 120 g “, enough to pull a trailer up some mighty steep grades.

The GTO Plus 20/20 Travel Tourer spec weight is 40 lbs which is in the range of many other tadpole trikes. Retail price is $4,490.

I’ve always loved the GTO model, but this 2009 version is incredible!  Come by and give this trike a test ride!
